About a week or two ago I started something similar, I called it the "Hardcore Project".

It's basicly what you described but with a few more (and a few less):

Rules:
  • Can't access storage (except for dyes);
  • Can't use Heroes, only Henchies;
  • Can't accept help from strangers of higher level (or better equiped) than me;
  • Can't trade with other people;
  • Can't get out of Prophecies area (nor do quests with insane exp rewards that came after it);
  • Obviously, item above also means no PvE only skills;
  • Can't use /bonus items, or items from Durmand, or... you get the idea.

Goal:
To achieve Legendary Survivor.

Also, this time around I'm taking all the time I want to read every single quest line, cinematics and such, mostly because I never really cared about that and ended up rushing through all the content.

I'm currently standing at level 16 about to do D'Alessio Seaboard, struggling to find a half decent bow. Got all quests done so far (except Althea's Ashes).

I'm having a blast playing this game like I was on january 2006 (which was when I first started playing GW). Yes, it's pretty easy when you know the mobs, techniques, etc. Mobs there are a bit boring on painful quests or large/pointless maps. But it doesn't really matter much as long as I fulfill my goal.

I didn't really think about not using tomes or other campaign skills, I think I might add that to my list as well, although I'm not sure what would be the purpose of that.

I'm currently doing the same as you! Trying to calculate the gold you drop during the whole game!

Currently @ Lion's Arch and a little bit more than 2k!

Have been using collector armor since the beginning and using collectors weapons! Haven't buyed any skills just used those you get from quest

I don't think playing through without 'feeding' a new character isn't gimped enough. Try flipping your monitor over and playing through upside down. That should give you a new perspective on the game.

I've done it some months ago, and i found it fun to come back for a while to the old days. I don't know if i will repeat the experience for now, though..maybe in the future. It would be fun to find some friends who like to do the same thing with you, to see something similar to the old school groups.

Real men play with no monitor, no keyboard, 1-button mac mouse only, final destination.

Here is a simple solution if you're bored with guild wars:

go outside, and do something, it's gonna feel hell alot better than trying to waste your time on an already dead game.

Seriously, if people wan't to find new ways to play the game, let them. It can't be that hard to just not say anything unless you have some constructive to say.
So quit being a douche, there's no reason to flame people who actually like the game and want to play it.

Well i'm slowly getting my warrior through prophecies in my spare time, with some self imposed restrictions:
-only do mission with human or mostly human groups
-only craft armor from vendors at my level
-only get skills from skill quests, not trainers
-no pve skills 'cept cap sigs
-no getting runs
-no crossing campaigns (until proph is done)

I think this is mostly for nostalgic purposes although I would like a giant warrior to pvp with

They are bored with a dying game, I can understand that.
But what they're doing now is like trying to find a medicine that will cure the disease on a corpse, it's wasted effort. You're bored with something, go find something else more interesting to do. What's the point Lol? Go find something more interesting in life, it's not that hard.

And btw, if i wanted to be a douche, this would be at least 10 worst in language, so this is my "constructive criticism". And also, I don't flame, I never do, I merely post my opinions.

Agreed. I'm just at the tipping point now. I feel like I got maybe a week or two left of GW in me, then I have to take a break! It's more of the same old-same old, fewer people to play with, much less community, much more cybersex in local. It used to be a game, now it's google chat with an mmo gui.

* Any drop you get you can use, as long it didn't come from anything out of Prophecies.
* No leaving prophecies until you complete it!
* You must not be ran to any other outpost/city/or mission. Play it through!
I actually did all this - except the storage

Some Old Restrictions: (that were missing)

1. Don't use flag.
2. The use of Rune of Attunement and Rune of Vitae should be avoided.
3. Remember Old Major Rune was -41 Health Points.
4. Some skill functionality had been change completely, the use of that skill should be avoided. (Example: Otyugh's Cry)
